Is it right that every motivational speaker is a depression patient?

“Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

It's one of those questions recently posted on many forums and social media sites. A motivational speaker has gone through tremendous pain, suffering, heartbreaks, betrayal, sorrow, and many more. All of these terms can lead anyone toward depression. It can happen with anyone in their life but the person who can control this situation and walk out standalone takes them as a challenge and set an example to others. Most people surrender to these situations but on the other hand, if a person accepts the challenges of life then his ideas can change his life and inspire many more people to change their life too.

Motivation is an important term, and people feel if someone is trying to motivate others, it is because of their own experiences. The idea that those who experience sadness end up making the finest motivational speakers are top-rated today. But what precisely is the appropriate response to this? To answer this, people need to know and understand the terms "motivation" and "depression."

What is motivation?

Simply said, motivation is the reason or incentive for doing anything. This may be a person's needs, desires, wants, or drives. It is something that motivates the person to keep going and give their all.

Now, what is Depression?

It is a severe medical condition that is relatively prevalent and detrimental to a person's feelings, thoughts, actions, or general behavior.

So, is it accurate to suggest that all people with depression are truly motivational speakers? Honestly, there is no simple way to respond to this question. Because of how they listen or are rising to fame, motivational speakers, also known as life coaches, have begun to encounter a lot of hostility or unfavorable popularity. People believe they truly utilize their power to dominate others and influence them to affect their personal lives.

The conclusion we might get from this is that they are empowered rather than depressed. It's not true that everyone who uses a microphone to speak is depressed and wants someone to listen to them. Instead, they have an excellent conversational style and can hold the public's attention while speaking to a larger group of people. Not everyone is talented at entertaining a crowd, and certainly not at teaching them something while they are listening.

“A big part if depression is feeling really lonely, even if you’re in a room full of a million people.” – Lilly Singh

Motivational speakers are in high demand right now. A lot of stress and anxiety prevail in today’s youth. When faced with complex and trying situations in life, people experience a sense of loss and confusion. They experience missed opportunities or a lack of space at various turning points, which leads to sadness. In these circumstances, motivational speakers aim to assist young people by sharing their own stories and getting them involved in participating more.

Let us look to the other side. More than 2000 motivational coaches or speakers are in India's field. They come from various backgrounds, including sports, Bollywood, writing, social activism, cancer survivors, entrepreneurs, innovators, and many more. In reality, if we look around, these people are the most in-demand since they are in good positions in their lives and have prestigious careers.

Whether for personal or professional requirements, motivational speakers boost a person's morale. The experiences can significantly influence people that motivational speakers share. Nowadays, businesses hire motivational speakers to encourage their staff to improve their industries. Their employees can be motivated and influenced by these sessions to adopt both short-term and long-term practices.

General M. M. Naravane, a retired Indian Army general, Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic gold medalist from India, Gaur Gopal Prabhu, a religious leader, and Jay Shetty, an English author; are only a few of the top motivational speakers in India.

This well-known myth will receive a "no" from our end. They are relatively well-known and prosperous people eager to share details about their lives with others. Let's envision a situation where General M.M. Naravane delivers a motivational speech to Indian youngsters. Will you refer to our renowned former Indian Army general as being depressed? Absolutely not. Without a doubt, He has fought and prevailed in fights for our nation while also picking up knowledge that, in all likelihood, people of today's generation will need years or never acquire. Suppose he appears in public to give examples. In that case, he is merely attempting to inspire the audience by showing them how to remain upbeat and overcome life's difficulties.

So, why do people need motivational speakers?

Motivational speakers not only inspire people; they also instruct them on how to bring about this shift by outlining practical methods and successful examples. For example, have you all ever encountered a situation where a friend, family member, or acquaintance needed some advice or assistance during a trying period in their life? What do we try to do or not do in that circumstance? Encourage them, yes? To create a story that can inspire someone and lift them out of a negative or depressed frame of mind, we occasionally try to draw on instances of well-known people.

Germany Kent, an American print and broadcast journalist, television personality, former beauty queen, actress, businesswoman, producer, philanthropist, and author once said, “I love inspiring people and if I can make a difference in one person's life then that's success for me.”

Now, are you depressed yourself while you're trying to encourage or motivate the other person? No, you are just an excellent speaker and listener who undoubtedly has the ability to persuade the other person to pay attention and follow your instructions. That is precisely what motivating speakers do as well. In no way are they depressed individuals; instead, they are remarkable and influential figures that we look up to for life advice.

Therefore, motivational speakers genuinely have a vast amount of experience—the kind of experience that is most crucial in life. Motivational speakers are often women who had several setbacks on their path to where they are now. Thus, they make an effort to impart their knowledge to others so that they may learn from their mistakes and avoid making the same ones. They share their life experiences and tell you what worked best for them.

These people are like the cornerstones of our nation, investing in the future of our kids by imparting their wisdom. They try to assist everyone, including those who have failed in life or might have experienced depression. Motivational speakers may work wonders and transform many lives if we approach them from a positive perspective and eliminate any negative elements.
