Life in Lockdown: New
Phase of Life
I can still remember that
day, it was Thursday 19th March 2020. I was just returning from my office and
watching the news on television to know about Corona cases in India and was
waiting for our Prime Minister's ‘Mr. Narendra
Modi’ sir
declaration which is going to be telecast. Before that I was just listening
about the corona, it was scary, and I was also a little scared when I listen
that a person from our office also get COVID infected. I got more scared when I
came to know that it was spreading by sneezing and touching others because I
used to travel public transport to commute office.
And then finally our
Prime Minister sir declare one-day complete lockdown which was on Sunday 22nd
March 2020. This was the first time when the 'Lockdown' word was introduced in
our life. first time I am saying because of that I had never imagined a day
when whole the India will be at home. But it happened and it happened due to COVID-19,
after that rest is the history.
Friends! what is lockdown
exactly? So let me define lockdown in very simple words so that everyone can
easily understand it. Lockdown can be defined as a condition in which no one
can live their life freely. Everyone has to follow rules and guidelines issued
by the government.
We cannot move out from
our houses, cannot meet people, even we cannot go out for a walk also. Whatever
we need it could be available at our doorstep, but we cannot go out. Such a
situation often comes when one has to keep a watch always, but because of this
covid-19, we all had to be imprisoned in our homes together and we were under
police surveillance all the time.
As you are all very well
aware now about lockdown as we described above in our words, it proved as
life-changing for all of us. When our respected Prime Minister Modi Ji declared
for lockdown on 22nd March 2020, it became most challenging for all of us to
follow it. When my family heard this news on T.V. everyone was shocked for a
while. Nobody knew what to do, how would we manage all the things. Even my
sister-in-law had left along with the baby to visit her ill mother before a
day. All the members of the family were thinking about the necessary things
like groceries, food etc.
Time passed on; within a
few days, everyone had chosen the way for passing their spare time accordingly
to his/her interest. My mom started to make new dishes each weekend, my elder
brother started to make videos on YouTube and Rizzle in his additional time.
Even my routine time had been changed. Now my breakfast and lunchtime have been
changed and I also got started to play some childhood games like Ludo and all.
I have downloaded so many games in my mobile which could not be found earlier
in my mobile. Sometimes I compared myself with zoo animals that cannot go
outside, and their world is limited to that cage only.
Being in so many
difficult times, a big thanks to our technology which was helping us to connect
with our relatives and another family member who was in another city due to
this lockdown and could not come back to home and also thanks to those who were
delivering necessary items like grocery and other things to our doorstep
safely.
A very big thanks to all
our Doctors and Policemen’s community, who took care of us in this difficult
situation without caring about their life or I can say to put their lives in danger
for us. In that situation, we saw many layers of human behavior. Where some
people were helping others by providing necessary items to live as few were
trying to collect the high value of money for things. I can still remember at
that time I was short of cash due to ATM were also closed and we need cash to
buy the things. But all the sellers i.e. Kirana store, milk man and others were
very supporting at that time. So a very big thanks to all those people who
supported us at that endangered situation.
Last but not the least, a
very big thanks to all those people who supported the Indian Government in
making lockdown very successful. Because if lockdown failed in our country,
then we can imagine the numbers of infected people might be very high as being in
the second place of the population in the world.
In last, I can only hope
this time will also change and life get back to normal as earlier. So, till
then be safe, keep safe and if not needed to go out then stay at home.
